The Homeownership Education Certification provides hands-on practical strategies that assists housing counseling professionals with creating a successful homebuyer education program, marketing that program to potential clients and leveraging relationships with vendors inclusive of financial support of the workshop. Creating and implementing a homebuyer education program requires an understanding of the homebuying process from A to Z, good public speaking skills and excellent relationship building. This certification will provide foundational information necessary for the student to be able to conduct an engaging, information-packed workshop that aligns with HUD reporting standards.

Applicants must pass the following exams with a score of 80% or higher:

Practical Experience Requirements

Applicants must have counseled at least 30 individuals within the last 12 months, or must have been employed by a HUD-certified housing counseling agency for the last six months.
