Are you ready for HUD certification?

The UnidosUS Learning Alliance is currently registering counselors for the HUD Housing Counseling Certification Prep training in  Dallas, Texas.  The location of the training is at Crowne Plaza Hotel Dallas Downtown, 1015 Elm Street, Dallas Texas 75202.  The training will begin on Monday, February 3rd, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. and go through Tuesday, February 4th, 2020 at 4:30 p.m. 

HUD Housing Counseling Certification Prep Course

This is a fast-paced two-day course that will cover each of the topics below.  This course is not intended to be a stand-alone course for new Housing Counselors, but instead to be a supplemental class that will assist Housing Counselors as a refresher course in all six topics.  New Housing Counselors that have little to no experience in the topics above are recommended to take more intensive stand-alone courses on each topic such as the other courses offered through ULA.

The Dodd Frank requirement indicates that Housing Counselors must be proficient in the following six areas:

The course will cover the following six areas:

1.      Financial management;

2.      Property maintenance;

3.      Responsibilities of homeownership and tenancy;

4.      Fair housing laws and requirements;

5.      Housing affordability; and

6.      Avoidance of, and responses to, rental and mortgage delinquency and avoidance of eviction and mortgage default.
