The UnidosUS Learning Alliance (ULA) is currently registering counselors for the eLearning Foreclosure Prevention Part A course. The training will begin on February 1st through February 21st, 2021.

This course offers a variety of skills for providing counseling services to clients who have already purchased their home or are in danger of foreclosure. The curriculum includes:

  • Understanding the mortgage industry and who bears the risk of loss with foreclosed loans
  • Understanding the foreclosure process in different states
  • Triaging and building relationships with clients
  • Understanding different types of mortgage products
  • Reviewing and understanding loan documentation
  • Explaining and documenting client hardship
  • Calculating client income and helping clients with crisis budgeting
  • Creating action plans and prioritizing tasks
  • Determining available loss mitigation options for clients
  • Understanding and applying for HAMP modifications
  • Helping the homeowner make realistic choices
  • Reviewing and understanding workout options that do not require bank consent

Our eLearning courses are designed to provide options to multiple types of learners in an asynchronous format. We provide training materials and exercises that can be done at your own pace. So, no needing to login at a certain time or completing assignments on a particular day, you can do this from work or home 24/7 within the scheduled dates of your course. The course manual can be downloaded and saved right to your desktop or you have 30 days from the course end date to log back in and review the materials.

The course is scheduled for February 1st through February 21st, 2021 to provide a facilitator for students that may require another level of engagement. The facilitator is there to provide:

  • a syllabus with a schedule of office hours and introduction to the course
  • answer any questions related to the curriculum
  • participate in collaborative group discussions
  • provide a live Q&A session
