About ULA:

The UnidosUS Learning Alliance (ULA) is a national training and certification program for housing counselors. ULA courses are developed in collaboration with UnidosUS Wealth and Housing Alliance (UWHA) housing counseling agencies located in major cities and rural communities throughout the U.S.

The curriculum of the ULA is based on the streamlined delivery methods, strategies, and experience of the UWHA and its participating agencies, managers, and counselors. The methods taught have been successfully replicated in more than 50 organizations in 20 states and 40 housing markets and are proven to increase the impact of local nonprofit housing agencies and effectively meet the needs of their communities. Learning Alliance courses provide housing counselors and managers with the training and information they need to be effective in the housing industry. For more information on our courses please visit our registration page.

ULA courses are open to all housing counselor professionals—current and prospective—who are looking to advance their careers.

If you would like to sign up for our mailing list and receive updates about course and scholarship availability, please send your name and email address to: learning@unidosus.org and ask to be added to the ULA mailing list.

About UWHA:

UnidosUS (formerly NCLR)—the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States—created the UnidosUS Wealth & Housing Alliance (UWHA) in 1997 to increase and maintain Hispanic homeownership through pre-purchase housing counseling.

Today, UWHA consists of 51 affiliated nonprofit community-based organizations, providing all forms of housing counseling and group education services. Operating in more than 20 states and 40 real estate markets, UWHA reaches more than 60,000 families annually.

The UWHA housing counseling model emphasizes one-on-one counseling, where trained counselors work with low-income families over a period of time to help them become mortgage-ready. More recently, with the onset of the financial crisis, counselors have also focused on helping families resolve mortgage delinquencies with the best possible outcome. UWHA Affiliates help their clients identify barriers and establish short- and long-term goals that will allow them to achieve their desired outcome.

Organizations are incorporated into UWHA based on an annual application process that evaluates the quality of services provided, program history, and the need for housing counseling services in the area. Once incorporated, UWHA agencies receive operating grants and technical assistance from UnidosUS.
