The Rental Counseling Certification is designed to cover the basics of rental counseling and gives counselors tools to help their clients become sustainable and knowledgeable renters. Counselors will learn about intake screening, financial literacy, tenant and landlord responsibilities, fair housing, and the eviction process. Additionally, the counselor will be able to determine a client's immediate need for rental crisis counseling. and long-term success for sustainable rental housing with the general knowledge of local, state, and federal rental assistance program qualifications and requirements.

Applicants must pass the following exams with a score of 80% or higher:

Practical Experience Requirements

Applicants must have counseled at least 30 individuals within the last 12 months, or must have been employed by a HUD-certified housing counseling agency for the last six months.
