1. Will an early departure on the last day of the training session keep me from qualifying for certification?

Yes. Participants agree to remain in class through the duration of scheduled class time. You will not be eligible for a certificate of completion or able to access the certification exam if you leave early. On-site instructors are not authorized to make exceptions to this rule.

However, if you need to leave early due to flight schedules, we must be notified in writing five business days prior to the start of the course. In addition, you must be prepared to remain in class until at least 3:00 p.m. on the last day. You will also be responsible on the exam for all material covered that day.

2. Is course registration required if applying for a scholarship?

If you are awarded a scholarship, you will be internally pre-registered for the course. You MUST accept the scholarship by following the email instructions. Registration is completed once you enter the scholarship/discount code and submit payment for the registration fee. Do not register online until prompted to do so or you will be prompted for payment of FULL tuition plus registration fee.

If you do not receive a scholarship, you can register for any course you wish to attend as long as there is space available. However, you are required to pay the full tuition of the course plus the non-refundable registration fee.

3. Are scholarship applicants accepted after the deadline has passed?

All scholarship applications are submitted internally through our website. Once the deadline has passed, access to the applications is closed and removed from the website.

4. How do I find my agency’s HUD number?

The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) issues a five-digit number to all of its certified agencies. If you do not know it, ask your administrator or office manager. You may also contact your local HUD representative. Since scholarships are based on HUD certification and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, the selection committee will only consider correctly completed applications with a valid HUD number.

5. How soon can I apply for a scholarship for on-site training?

We normally permit submissions for scholarships through our website about two months before the training begins. We encourage you to visit our website periodically to view the dates of our training courses so you can submit your application on time. Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

6. How long do I have to take the final exam?

You have 30 days after the course has ended to complete your exam.

7. How/When do I receive my login information?

Your login information will be sent via email 2 days prior to the start date of the course. Please check your spam/junk folders and make sure to also add learning@unidosus.org to your safe list.

ULA Hybrid+ Distance Learning FAQ

1. What is ULA Hybrid+ Distance Learning?

In lieu of in-person training, Hybrid+ Online Distance Learning is our training model which combines synchronous and asynchronous learning. With virtual conferencing technology, there is a high level of engagement between Instructors and Students. The live class time (synchronous) occurs in 3-5 hour time blocks with breaks interspersed accordingly throughout a 1-week or 2-week schedule. Asynchronous activities include reviewing class resources and completing assignments through a virtual platform at your own pace. You only need an internet connection, enabled web camera, and microphone on your computer to participate in the virtual classroom.

For the best experience possible ULA strongly suggests for participants to schedule the time off needed to attend live sessions and learn the materials. Courses taken are for the benefit of the counselor and their professional development. Hybrid+ courses are virtual live courses that require participants to attend live sessions similar to a face to face classroom. Participants will need to step away from their daily work duties to complete homework, follow-up with the instructor, pass the exam, and complete core educational competencies. ULA is not responsible for scheduling conflicts that may arise when registering for a course. Please review our attendance policies prior to accepting a scholarship and/or registering for a course.

2. Why should I consider training through Hybrid+ Distance Learning?

Convenient alternative to in-person learning. Access to live quality training with the convenience of an online or mobile connection. Safe way to connect to peers during COVID-19 restrictions and an alternative to build staff skills for agencies with minimal operating budgets.
